GRE

So I took the GRE yesterday, and I have to say I am incredibly pleasantly surprised at how I did! I've been studying at least an hour a day for two weeks or so, with off and on studying before that. It's been an incredibly stressful time, especially considering how (un)well I did on the practice tests I took beforehand. The night before I took the test (that would be Thursday) I decided to take another practice test to kind of gear up toward the test. I took a full portion of the Verbal section, and then checked my score and pretty much had a panic attack. Let's just say...I did not do as well as I thought (which is saying something). Becky made me put down the book before she went to work, telling me that I was doing more harm than good stressing out about it. So what did I do? I played some James Bond until 1 AM and then went to bed (nothing blows stress like sneaking around and killing bad guys, right?)

Well, after getting home, eating a quick lunch, scribbling down the four schools I was sending my scores to and getting directions, I skidaddled (points for using that word in a sentence) and almost was late and finally got there. I got a drink, bathroom break to make sure, then surrendered everything in my pockets (even my chapstick? REALLY folks?) and had to pee again right when I sat down at my computer. Three and a bit hours later (I took a break to take care of the emergency about an hour in) I got my scores and was very pleased. I went a little conservative on the schools I sent my scores to: one in Maryland, one in Pennsylvania, one in New Mexico and one in Colorado (I can hear Bard cheering in the background while Bonnie cries). After a dinner at Red Robin we had a good evening watching The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, which I would have a hard time really recommending. It was a great night though :)

So I don't know what the etiquette of sharing scores is...I'm not embarrassed nor ecstatic, however it seems nobody ever shares. So...I guess if you want to know I'll tell you?

Anyway. It's a load off of my shoulders and I get to relax in between writing my papers and doing my reading.

Speaking of reading, that's something I wish I had more time to do. Between school and work, I really don't have much free time, and since I read so much for school I find it difficult to want to read during my free time. I wish I had a few more books under my belt, however. The last book I read for fun was possibly The Five People You Meet In Heaven, which was slightly disappointing especially after Tuesdays With Morrie. I have so many books I want to read. For example:
The Harry Potter series again
Through The Looking Glass and all that Alice In Wonderland jazz...I bought the book a few years ago and still haven't read it. I've been meaning to.
The Hunger Games, since everyone I know has recommended it.
The Lord of the Rings - I read this series in high school (my dad wouldn't let me see the movies without having done so) and The Hobbit on our honeymoon, and I've been meaning to go back and reread them.
Heat Wave and Naked Heat - I've never been too into murder mystery books, but come on. With an idea loosely based on the show Castle (which you should watch right now if you haven't), written by James Patterson (so many people think) and sporting a protagonist with my name? What could be better?

Anyway. Just some ideas. Hopefully I'll knock one out during Christmas break at least. Maybe two. Depends on if I get a game for Christmas...

Have a great weekend everyone. Celebrate the small victories.
