In the ER with my knight in shining armour

Last night was not what we expected. We had a great dinner with friends, played a quick game of Uno and went on to Phase 10. I started to feel some pain during this rather long game, but nothing serious.
By the end I was having a difficult time breathing. We decided it was time to go because I started my training monday for my new job and we still had to drop 2 people off. When we stood to leave I felt something inside me snap. I started to cry, but didn't want to make a scene so I walked ahead of them all with Jameson.
I sat in the back of our car because I knew I couldn't get up every time to let someone out and finally, in the dark, I let myself cry quietly. I had my phone poised to call mom the moment our last passenger left. The tears hit hard the second I hit call and from that moment on, I was beyond understanding. I hurt so badly that I couldn't speak. Jameson ran me to the ER where we were hit with more questions.
I had gotten ahold of myself by then, but still could not figure out why I was in pain! The nurse admitted me upon receiving a urine sample and took me into a room where I waited while an idiot that injured himself longboarding got first priority. Jameson didn't know what to do with me. He had seen me cry, but not in pain. I couldn't stand because my legs were giving out. I couldn't sit because it hurt my back and I couldn't even think about lying down because that is where all the pressure was.
Finally they got me in IV and filled it with painkillers. The doctor came in and let me know that I'd be getting a cat scan because he thought I had appendicitis. Then I'd be getting an ultrasound in case it was an Ovarian cyst that burst. The cat scan was not pleasant. The pain killers were in full gear so my other pain was gone. But they couldn't find my appendix. So they had to shove a tube up my bum and inject me with more fluids through my IV that made me feel like I was doing something you only do in bathrooms.
I asked for a drink and they said no. We waited 2 hours for my ultrasound because the guy on call didn't have the right number listed. During that time they still would not let me drink and told me I have a "rip-roaring bladder infection" (that is a direct quote), I threw up violently both in bed and in the bathroom, where I was going to the bathroom with Jameson holding my hair up and helping me hold the bowl I was throwing up in. At this point, I lost it. I couldn't control any of my fluids and there was my husband, the man who married me and thought I was the most beautiful thing ever, was watching me reduced to nothing more than a pale, puking, bathrooming wretch.
The ultrasound was unusual too. They had me shove a foot and a half long tube up my front so they could get better pictures. Joy. Then, after all this, they gave me percocet and antibiotics. I knew that walgreens would ask for an ID, so I went in with Jameson carrying my sippy cup (finally!) and my bucket, in which I threw up while waiting for meds. They felt so sorry for me and my insuranceless self, that they gave us a big discount. Utah, I love you.
Since then, I have been here at home. I missed training. I cant get up without getting sick. I cant eat food but have to. And, am enjoying pain medication.
Props to anyone who made it through that awful and semi-graphic novella. I honestly am better. I am tired. I am flat out worn out. But over all, I think I have a better attitude and a deeper love for my wonderful husband.
Thank you Jameson for loving me through this and staying by my side.

  4. I'm glad you're feeling better, I can't believe you made it through all 10 rounds of Phase 10 feeling so bad. I'm pretty sure Tiny should give you his win just for that.
