Father's Day

Well as everyone knows, today is Father's Day. Mine has been, in a word, wonderful. Last night, we were invited to Aleece and Damen's place for a Father's Day party. I show up after my shift, and it's a Mario Party! Becky and Aleece had set it up and decorated fantabulously. There were Boo's hanging from the ceiling, there were themed candies out, we had pizza and breadsticks for dinner and Becky and Aleece were dressed up like Mario and Luigi with Chloe being a little Princess Peach. We ate and then played some Mario Party and Mario Kart, then said goodnight. It was an amazing night and I'm so lucky to have a wife and friends like that.

This morning Becky surprised me with my father's day gift: a shaving kit. One with a brush, soap and mug you know? I'm way excited for it. I tried using it this morning and forgot that my razor is dull and so it wasn't the phenomenal experience I was hoping for, but I felt like a sir using it and that's every bit as good.

As I was at church today I was sitting half asleep in Sunday School when I got a phone call. It was from a number I didn't know. I stepped out and listened to the message and that's when it hit me: I got accepted to grad school! We're moving to Atlanta and my classes start in the third week of August. I am sooo excited about it and my relief is actually physical. I don't know many more details right now, but I'll keep you all in the know. Anyway, we're just spending the evening being excited and happy and I hope you all do the same.

I just want to say something about my own father. The older I get, the more I realize just how amazing of a man he is. A tireless worker who was always wanting to spend time with his children whether we wanted that or not. He was willing to learn anything to have something in common with us. He was a phenomenal example to us and I hope that I can become a father like he is. Thank you dad for making me the person that I am today.
